Mediterranean Greece and Spain

Having a Greek grandfather, the artist immersed herself in Greece both literally and figuratively through extensive reading of myth and history, perusal of museum and gallery collections and through numerous residencies, with an influential first extended stay in Greece enabled by a Greek Government scholarship held at the British School at Athens, where she was able to access information, interpretations and field visits in relation to archaeological sites across Greece. In 2000 she developed a seasonal studio on the island of Hydra and held several exhibitions at galleries there, as well as in Athens.  During the 1990s she also held residencies at the Fundacion Valparaiso, in Mojacar, Spain. In her Mediterranean works, bright colours in acrylics, large scale and complex, sometimes semi-abstract compositions dominate.
